Ride a 125cc without an additional test: with key number 196 you extend your car licence – driving lessons can begin before the theory starts.

Requirements
- Class B for at least 5 years (uninterrupted)
- Minimum age: 25 years
- Training: min. 9 lesson units of 90 min. (4 theory + 5 practical)
- Max. 1 year between training and registration
Application & fee
Registration requires presenting:
- Proof of identity
- Certificate of successful participation (Annex 7b FeV)
- Biometric photo
Fee at the authority: 37,30 €
What are you allowed to ride?
With B196, in addition to class B vehicles you may also ride class A1 motorcycles (125 cm³, max. 11 kW, power/weight ≤ 0.1 kW/kg) – only within Germany. The full A1 training is waived; an upgrade to A2 is not possible.
